85 Mk2 Di Fastener sizes

Injector(or any other fav bleed spot)
Brake caliper nipples

Wheel nuts - 15/16th not 100% about mm, may be 22mm
Sump plug - special tool though there may be a socket to fit
4speedO/D gearbox refil/drain - sorry no idea
Diff - again no idea, but you shouldn't need to do anything with this
Injector(or any other fav bleed spot) - 13 or 10mm, can't remember!
Brake caliper nipples - I have a special spanner for this, but a regular one may fit


Most things on a Mk2 can be undone with either a 10, 13 or 17mm spanner. A set of torx (star) drivers are a plus too. Are you asking in case anything goes wrong on the road or for when you are in the garage?

15/16th is exactly the same as 24mm.

Before doing 2000Kms in a vehicle that hasn't turned a wheel in years I'm going to change the engine oil and filter and check diff, gearbox levels and make sure the brakes seize in the off position!
I'll take my 11mm brake nipple spanner then.

I would not worry about the diff, unless it's got an outrageous leak and you suspect it's lost a lot. Driving a short distance will tell you what condition it's in, some whine is normal BTW.

Update:
I'm down here after a 15hr and 1006.7 mile ride from Paris, which included a puncture and mullering someones mountain bike casually discarded in the fast lane of the autostrada. Luckily the Claude Butler didn't stand a chance against 300kilos of BMW GS doing 90!
Now with the Outlaws and on baby sister's dialup computer and the old man's homemade wine.
The Van.
It's virtually rust free and the chassis is sound and very clean. It's spent its life collecting olives! What a perfect rust preventer. Some F%£ker has nicked the front indicators since the pictures were taken and cut the loom off to get them (anybody got some indicators?)
It needs some exhaust mount rubbers and maybe a couple of front tyres though the spare's good. The twin battery looms gone and it's been wired for a battery behind the seat, so should be easy to power up. Handbrake's not seized and it rolls. Oil level is up and don't look too bad, water is showing in the reservoir with a weeping overflow hose (easy to fix)
Brake fluid need topping up and that's about it.

Didn't think a 3tonner would have twin wheels?
Tomorrow I'm up early to beat the sun to get a battery and some fluids to get it running.

I have a couple of phase1 indicators that will get you home, and you can fit Mk3 bulb holders. They are more reliable as they don't have any rubber to perish in them. They fit directly into the back of the Mk2 indicators as normal.

I'll make a decision tomorrow whether to drive straight back or leave it with relatives. I've still got the side repeaters and could chance it back with those alone!
Another detail question. The drivers mirror is mounted on the wing whilst the pass side is door mounted and of a diff design. Is that standard?

The mirrors are the same in RD and LHD, the driver'#s is mounted on the wing and the passenger on the door. They should be the same design though, just slightly different lengths. I don't know if you would get away with having no indicators in the UK bit of the trip. Watch out for VOSA at Dover if you go that way, they hang around at peak times in the truck section, so follow the cars.

The UK bit of the trip is about 6 miles!
