mk 2 camper wheels

Postby drsniff666 » Thu Nov 20, 2008 8:09 pm

Hi,does anyone have any spare weller 8 spoke steel wheels to fit my mk 2 camper? Could do with 1 or 2.The previous owner had a new tyre fitted on the back and the monkey in the garage did'nt tighten the wheel nuts properly so they worked loose and knackered the wheel and arch!

Yep,it's the very same van,by the way if you read that post, he reckoned it may have dropped a valve,it had'nt,the valve seats and the bores were totally sh#**ed! It must have been giving about 20bhp at the wheels and using as much oil as petrol,it did however take me from Axminster to Merseyside when I bought it!

nice van 8) have you rebuilt the engine then :?:

and i think if it was me i'd gets some wellers from a landrover or similar and redrill them - as pukka transit wellers are rare :( it's cheeper to go the hard way round and if you find a pair rather than a set you can get them very cheep :D

I managed to get hold of a decent mid 80's Sierra 2 ltr pinto and with a K & N air filter it now runs like a dream.Spent the last 18 mths since I bought it sourcing parts,a slow minor restoration but trying to make a decent job so I don't have to do it all again in 12 mths time! Can't wait to get out in it properly next year, some paintwork and minor mechanicals left to do.

mabe cant remember but you can get them in 14" (wellers) even if they arnt landroverhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WELLER-WHEELS-TYR ... 240%3A1318 not sure if these are but didnt haxman redrill suzuki (140pcd) to fit his mk2 :?:
but you could also fit 15" on the back and retain 14" on the front and i dont think it would look out of place - lotus esprit's were like that :D and if somones selling just 2 wheels they tend to fetch not much at all :D
