later pinto and mt75 into mk2

Postby 93fxdl » Thu Dec 11, 2008 6:31 pm

both the engine and box on my ci have had it (3cylinders and 2 synchros) so picked up a later 205 motor with mt75 attached so will have a few fun filled hours ahead of me (removing the front panel thats been fixed on with fibreglass not by me) but anyway the questions are
is my twinchoke and manifold a straight swap or are later heads different?
will my new motor have hard seats
and finally (well for now anyway)can the electronic bosch dizzy be put back to points or which bits do i need to plug it into (provided the doner hasnt been cubed by now)

the weber will interchange, the valve seats will more than likeley be unleaded if you have a 205 block so dont worry about that ,and the dizzy can you use your old one??????
i have never fitted the electric type but i am told it is easy to do!

cheers for the info the reson for wanting to use the "new" dizzy is my old one is a black cap (motorcraft?) which in the past was always classed as a poor choice but also mooching around here i found a how to with a list of parts needed (just need to get them before it gets cubed)
as for the valve seats i have just found this http://www.fordcaprilaser.co.uk/the_facts.htm
so will have a look at the head for any p or r markings

Do you have the ignition modual as well with the dist?
Here's how it wires in

http://www.geocities.com/bortaf2000/techpage1.html
If the head is unleaded it will have L,,P,PP,R or RR by the number 4 spark plug, 205s are only unleaded after 85 ish so check the head code cos i've had a few much later pinto petrol vans that where not unleaded (89 on a G, 3 91s on J plates and a few F regs) :)

nothing there on mine but have pulled the head and it dosent appear to have inserts (bugger) :(
also the alternator is dated 83 but have found a chart of engine codes so when the daylight returns will have a look at the engine code just to see what month of what year the engine was made

well after many attempts to cut and paste the chart of engine codes and getting nowhere fast  here is the link to a page with the pinto engine codes
