Whell adapters

Postby vidma&tas » Mon Dec 15, 2008 11:14 am

Hi,
I've done blueprint for rear wheel adapter from original bolting places to 5*4.5in, dimensions in bp in cm.
Does anyone have any suggestions about part, if it would be made from aluminium about strength or anything else?
(New wheel connecting with adapter through old bolting places so nut will be hidden in adapter)

I would use steel in this case. Aluminium is good for spacers but not for this application.

cough cough..
ive had ali hub adaptors on my mk2 for over a year and 20,000 miles.
i even made them myself.
they roll along lovely, no cracks, no bending just as good as steel... and they dont rust...
i dont pootle along either, i drive it every day, farm tracks, potholes etc.
its been fine.
dont be mean to ali, its our friend :)
up to you though...
i used 1" plate HE 15 ali. if it helps

when i designed mine i went to get them as thin as possable - they were 20mm too :D i think ali is better suited to wider ones where weight is more of an issue :D
