MK1 Indicator Lens - Rubber Seals

Postby MK1Chris » Sun Jan 04, 2009 2:34 pm

Anybody have any ideas of how to make a replacement pair of rubber seals for the front indicator lenses on a MK1?

I currently don't have any sort of seal on mine and wondered what would be the best way of sealing this gap.

I'm only guessing, but I bet it's just about impossible to find anywhere that would have a pair for sale :( :(

N.O.S. lenses do come up from time to time on evil bay and I think these new ones come with the seals , but you might have to buy another lens to obtain a seal!

There's some non hardening silicon apparently (for external use
by window fitters builders etc)but I cant give you any specifics
this may tide you over meanwhile.

If you can get some closed cell foam you can cut new ones from it.Neoprene is the best stuff to use.

There's a guy on Ebay selling them constantly, the price has dropped to about 20/25 GBP a pair at the moment. They are the genuine( Ford) article with everything with it. I guess he must have found a pallet full pf these somewhere.

I had the same problem, resolved with DIY foam window/door seal , the ordinary one for house, but you also have this one , 3M ribbon sealer http://www.marketelf.com/product_detail ... roduct=222

Thanks all

It seems like tracking down some closed cell foam to make my own is the cheapest way forward.
