mk2 spotted

I spotted this mk2 transit laid up on the side of the road near where I live. I guess it's been there for a couple of months. I'm not really sure as I don't use the route in particular very often. I know very little about pre-mk3 transits and was wondering how old is it and it rare or sought after? It's on uk reg plates and I'm not quite familiar with the system. Here in Ireland the year forms the first two digits of the registration.

For an 86 tranny it doesn't look too bad. From a passing distance it didn't seem to have any serious corrosion. I've seen much newer mk5's falling asunder with rot but this one looked pretty solid. But I guess it could be a totally different story underneath.. The paintwork is nothing short of diabolical. It looks to have been painted by brush with household paint!!!
I might enquire about it to see could it be bought for a small figure or perhaps even taken away as a freebie. It's in an upper class area, semi rural on the outskirts of town. It's not directly outside anyone's house and have a sneaky suspicion that it may be abandoned...

Btw, Does anyone know what engine would this van contain? Would it be a di or a york?

Sounds good if it's a di. Di were extremely reliable compared to the earlier engine, or so I'm told.
I'd doubt that it's a petrol. Id have guessed that petrol would be very unpopular in such a large vehicle. Although, back in 1986 I guess things could have been a lot different.

This van was on ebay not to long ago, it was Taxed and Tested and in England..........well Wales if I remember right, so someone went to the expence of buying it, getting to it and bringing it home.

I have a set of this type of rear lights if anyone wants them
they were on my Mk1(!?) and were fully functioning.
