mk1 swb camper rear wheel space

hi l just fit out my mk1 swb as a camper now the rear wheel arces have drop you can just get your fingers under them what should be the right space be ie in inch and would l need to put a extra leaf spring in or replaces the shockers thanks steve :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea:

IF you want to put up the van again , if you are going to load it a lot , the I suggest you add a helper leaf, and sometimes here they put spacer bloks of solid steel between the bottom of springs and the axle. Also then you would be needing longer U bolts as the thread will finish .
The shockers have nothing to do with the height , they are there just to absorb the energy and dapens the effect of the springs.

are mk5 rear spring hangers larger then mk1 spring hangers ie from the rear chassis to the leaf spring thanks steve

Don't know that about mk5's but leave for the profss to come... :lol:
WHat I know for sure is that the mk2 facelift(plastic grille) was updated to a much larger tapered bushes on the rear and longer connections beteween the chasis and the end of spring.
