Wipers blowing fuse

I have just got a lights/wiper switch from a local breakers,in intermitant postion it blows the fuse and washer dosn't work (I'm sure I can fault find trace washer) any ideas?to save me effing about and head scratching.

were they both the same year i can only think there's been a wiring change or mabe it's the relay did it work intermittent before you swapped the switch and why did you swap the switch

Swapped switch due to old one doing nothing,tried a mk3 one (cause plugs the same) and that blew the fuse on intermitant I thought that was down to different wireing!

i'm pritty sure a mk3 one is ok - ive fitted a mk3 switch onto a mk2 loom and i only needed to do 1 mod - linking a wire somewhere, cant rememebr what it was for but i got no fuse blowing problems

i'd need to look at a drawing but i think there is a relay unique to the intermittent - i'd look at that 1st

Its all clear now mines standard not custom,so no intermitant hence fuse blow when switched to that position.My old one only 2 positions.Didn't work that out meself,thanks Fred.Learn something new every day!
