Mk 2 rear axle oilseal

Postby Micke » Tue Mar 07, 2006 1:22 pm

Hi all! Does anyone know where i can get hold of a rear axle hub oilseal for a 1979 mk 2 phase 1? It's a 100 (swb, single wheel) 2l pinto engine if that makes any difference! Would be grateful for any help :D . Cheers Mike.

Cheers mate, i only wish i had in front of me now :D . Have to do a 600 mile roundtrip with a leaky seal tomorrow :( . Nevermind, shouldn't be impossible to get hold of a secondhand axle if it all goes pearshaped

if it all does go pear shaped - a bit of usefull info i found out a mk3 axle will fit on a mk2 but is 25mm wider
also it wouldnt suprise me if the oil seal was identical to a mk3 one or even a mk4/5- possably a local motorfactors might stock a mk3,4or5 one :?

I haven't even caught up with the meaning of "Mark 3, 4, and 5" yet and you throw me another challenge.

What does "phase" mean in relation to Transits?

Maybe this Transit forum could be improved by having a page with photos and explanations of the main differences between all types of Ford Transits and what are the main parts (like axles - which seem to be so short lived) which are interchangeable between them, with or without some modifications to the saddles or shackles, and from my end I could send you whatever information there is available on the modifications made by Australia Ford to fit inline six cylinder engines in them.
1973 drw; Falcon 250 c.i.; 12v fuel pump; belt-driven water pump & fan replaced with 12v water pump & two 12" fans; T5 gearbox; Mark II front discs.

pases are slight differences (facelifts) in the middle of body shapes, usually lights or grille, without the basic shape changing.
