Postby oooeee » Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:17 pm

Hi there, hope someone can help me.I've got a 1982 mk2 used to be a luton but now a recovery truck, she's got the old 2.4 york engine but the fuel/injection pump has deceased.Has anyone got one or any idea where i might find one.I have no idea what was meant to be on there originaly but the buggered one on there now is a bosch but the filter housing is lucas cav so i'm a tad confused.Any help would be appreciated.Cheers. :D

Sounds like you have a bit of a bitser there mate. Are you sure it's not an early DI, and not a York? Though the Di came in with the facelift, in 1986 there could have been an engine change. How long have you had the van?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I think you may be right on the bitser front my friend and as for the engine how do i tell the difference between an early di and a york lump?? I bought the old girl about 2 months ago and drove it from norfolk to cornwall so it was working ok. Got to cornwall and the pump gave up on me and i've been banging my head against a wall ever since. I've had quoutes from Bosch to look at my buggered one and they said anywhere from 350 to 1200 quid to sort it!!!!!!!!! ARE THEY SURE!!!!! So i'm now at the point of looking at an engine change but i want to keep it as original as i can and not go with 2.5 and the 5 speed box. I know it would be more practical but its not original,so i suppose the next question is what would've been in there when it left the factory as a luton in 1982?? And what numbers should i be looking for on the block?? Thanks for your time.

post a picture of the engine, the alternator is up top on a york engine, the lucas cav pump from a Di will fit your engine if it is a york

Ya beat me to it Gemini, I was also going to say that it would most likely be a York from the factory, as that's what predated the Di in 1982.

Have a look in the "computer " forum at the bottom of the index page :D

You need to host your pictures on a website like Photobucket etc to be able to download them to here
Even if you don't need it, grab it.
The minute you do need it, it'll be gone.

Yup it's a Di, with a Bosch pump. You need either another bosch pump with the same code on the side, or another bosch pump with whatever code and the injectors to match. That's a middle aged engine, not even an earlier one, which has the Lucas pump.
