Newbie - quick question

Postby cowjam » Wed May 13, 2009 10:22 pm

Hello,
I (well, we - me and my best mate) picked up a mk1 1973 landliner - it's a camper van. The wing are quite rusty, so we've got fibreglass replacements. Trouble is, at the bottom of the wings there's a metal panel on each side that goes round the corner from the front to the side. They need replacing, any ideas where I can get them from?

Sorry if I should've asked this in a parts thread, I'm new to this site.

As I said, it's a 1973 mk1. The it's in generally good condition, it passed a recent MOT - the only fault was the windscreen washer pump. We've gutted the inside of the camper bit, aiming to rebuild it over summer and have it up and running towards the end of the summer.

That's the one, thanks. I've had a friend (who is a coachbuilder) offer to make one, I didn't know if it was easily available and better to get an original rather than make one. I'll pester him about it :)

Do you know what the dimensions are (or is there a schematic somewhere)? Ours are missing large chunks.

How come? We've already bought them, so we'll be giving them a go.

Fibre glass wings might take more time and effort to fit but done correctly they are perfectly OK.

that may be right as long as ALL your fixing points are in nice order, people don t fit them as they are awkward  thats why steel wings are 250 quid each and fiberglass ones 20 quid each think about it

i'm not saying fibreglass wings are as good as steel wings horses for courses :D my pickup would be fine with em on as would my old camper - the firevan can stay steel :D
