Is this a good starter motor for my V4 Esex?

Ah the engine rebuild story/saga continues...

I have noticed the starter motor is feeling a little tired these days and was looking for a new one.

I've spotted this on ebay:

And was just wondering if the forum members would give me their comments on if this is a good price to pay for this motor

I noticed when I rebuilt my V4 that the starter motor turned it over rather slowly,rebuilding the starter,cleaning and replacing all the wires and terminals made little real difference although the thing always managed to fire up.Talking to madmark who had the same experience we came to the conclusion that the V4s starter is a bit marginal with a tight ,rebuilt engine.
Its not to hard to re-brush a tired unit and as long as the comms OK it should be possible to get it to perform well for a few more years.I don't really think you'll gain much by buying a new one.

I think you are right, the engine fires up no problem, really strong, so I think I'll leave the starter well alone until it gets really weak or dies completely.

mine is now much looser on stating with aprox 750 miles under its belt!
she has allways started up first turn of the key as well so far it will have to work hard on the gaydon show trip tho
