considering a 24v conversion

Postby oldskooler » Tue Jul 14, 2009 6:49 am

im seriously tempted to bite the bullet and make the ultimate tow/service wagon out of my mk2 tranny. as ive already done the pas conversion i reckon a boa id really finish the van, and probably not be that much harder on fuel than the pinto.
im thinking the simplest route is to transplant the auto box in as well. i see else where on the site luke can supply engine mounts so little other special parts would be needed if going auto. your views are welcomed. im just considering what mods will be needed. one thing will be beefier brakes id say if running an auto. ill probably also need to run a higher final drive etc. and lots more i havent thought of!!

if your going auto the diff ratio will be fine - andykay has an auto 24v and he says the 4.56 is ideal :D
the most awkward bits to the conversion are all accociated with the manual box :)

also brakes are britty good as standard on transits - so long as its not a mk1 on drums  mines running standard mk4 brakes and theres no problem stopping it :D
