Pinto to Di conversion

Postby Decky75 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 3:06 pm

Hi, can someone point me in the right direction for doing a petrol to diesel conversion on my mk2 swb minibus.
Im using the engine and gearbox out of the mk4 that im breaking so have the full donor van.
My main concerns are what to do with the petrol tank, prop, electrics, and axle?
Any advice would be great as Im starting the conversion next week.

problem is it's been asked many times before - search and you'll find what you need to know :D

but............

prop - have a front end of a mk3/4/5 fitted onto your prop
axle - just leave it
electrics - dead easy unless you get a epic one its just 1 wire
tank - take off the in tank filter it its there and fit a return line

the other thing i'd reccoment is you get the floor area round the stuck from a mk3/4/5 and weld it into your mk2 it'll fit easy makes it a much tidier job :D

you may need engine mounts if your donor van has the alloy ones, if so i have loads of them. :D
