Just Wondering.....

Postby Dannyh » Fri Sep 04, 2009 7:08 pm

Was thinking the other day how much My grandads Mk2 Ci Motorhome Is actually worth.....

Its a 1978 on a T plate,Its done 88,000 miles from New! Its got the 2.5 Di Fitted with the 5 speed MT75 Box with only 60k on both engine and box.....
Re-conned Servo,New Tyres all round,Taxed till January 2010 and MOT'ed till November 2009.
Grandad Bought it last november and ripped the camper apart, and redecorated it,New Seats Covers, laminated flooring,The roof Re-lined and the walls all Borded out.It Runs 12v and 240v mains elec,On board water tank with hot and cold running water.
It does have an awning with it also.
It Is in very Good condition for its age, there is just the slightest But of top Rust Appeering on the bonnet and top of the wings, but we are having them done as soon as possible.
THIS VAN IS NOT FOR SALE,ITS JUST ME BEEN CURIOUS ON WHAT ITS WORTH!!!!

Some pics......

mabe a bit ott considering he's redone the interior - but it doesnt matter keep it long enough and it's only gonna go up in value :D quite oftern the price you pay is insignificant for the money you spend over the years - i've spent 10 times the purchase price on my van

just get the chassis and the doors etc. waxoiled and it'll help keep it in top condition 8)

and see if you can make Transitmania next year 8)

sweet van... i got the same model althogh without hot water..
we love ours to bits even though she seems a tad rough onthe outside..

you often see the longer wheelbase CI on ebay but never the short ones like these..

brilliant campers though..

mine will soon have a DI engine coupled to its original OD 4 spd box

as to value I paid 600 for mine albeit cosmetically challenged lol

but have seen them make serious cash on ebay

Eight years ago I paid £800 for my MK1 Ci.Since then I've spent a few quid but put in hundreds of hours fiddling and modifying.
With a bit of luck and a following wind I could maybe get two and a half grand for her,I've been asked dozens of times to sell it.
As to its value,in a way its the same as yours, its worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and what I'm prepared to let it go for.At the moment I'm still enjoying driving the thing so its worth a lot,it's value will go down if I see something I'd rather have, and when and if I don't enjoy it any more, its value will be still less.

Something that age is worth what it`s worth to you but if it was for sale somebody looking for a camper might give you 2500 - 3000 as it looks pretty tidy. It makes me laugh when I see what some people pay for these campers £200000-£40000 when yours does excatly the same job

It's worth more than that anyway. I've been offered £1500 for mine and it's a shed. Things are worth what people are prepared to pay for them . . . maybe not £3k though!

Although i dont have a CI, i paid £4500 for my Mk2 camper, though i must say its "nigh on mint". The fellow could have waited ages to sell, but its the right person looking for that type of van that makes it worth the money. Somebody else would say i wouldnt give 2K for an old Mk 2, but its worth what somebody is willing to pay on the day and what your prepared to let it go for...or how desperate you are to be rid of.
Ive turned down 6k for mine, simply because i love my van and what else could i get for 6k camper wise? Or another one as clean as mine.

Was offered 5k for my old one that got burned. Campers & moterhomes are a whole different world to that of just transits Geof. The price you suggest is a one you might offer for a van Mk2 of that vintage but I dont suppose you would pay 45k for a 09 tranny would you, :?: but theres plenty of people out there who will (not me) like I say campers different world

Your Cotswold was a lovely motor and worth 5K all day long. It must still make you sick to think about it going up in flame....It would me.

I had Mk1 Jennings Roadranger and i sold that for 5K.
