Rare Cobra Van

Postby Sundowner » Mon Aug 21, 2006 10:41 am

I dont think they get any rarer, i once got told a story about them but just passed it off as a myth

I got an old 1979 Van Action mag off ebay and it had a little wright up about this van its also got a full feature on the Transit Sundowner and guess what it looks like my van

Its also got an artical about modding transits like fitting V8 engines from 289ci to 428ci rear axle conversions brake conversions how to brace the steeing etc

This is the Ford Cobra Transit Sundowner
These came with a factory 302ci V8

Was the Cobra Sundowner really a (limited) production car? Or was it just a show car like the Arcadipane Concorde? If it's the 302 Cleveland, it has more than 200bhp and needs stopping power, but it looks like the Sunraysia wheels have the standard Transit PCD, so what brakes were used?

Has someone 70s aussie custom vannin' mags? Surely there's a feature about the Cobra Sundowner! They even featured the Arcadipane Concorde!

The Arcadipane Concorde was nothing more than a ford falcon panel van with a body kit its not a extremely rare thing and you can still get the parts today

Its the same front on the mad max coupe

It's not the same front as on the Mad Max XB, it looks pretty similar, but it's more boxy! Arcadipane offered a special coupe front which the Mad Max one has, without fender flares! Where can I get the parts to built a Concorde today? As far as I know, there's only one complete one for sale at moment and one original bodykit for sale in Australia and one set of wheels! I know only companies which are manufacturing parts to built a Mad Max replica, but not a Concorde. If there really a company is, please let me know!
