Nah, was the scottish motorbike show so me and a mate were heading down to that, it's held at a place by the airport. Then after that I went in to the city centre as I was buying some old steel that I saw for sale on gumtree.
Left at 5.30am from my house and got home past midnight
Ended up stopping for a few people on the way back up, here's the story shamelessly copied from my "other" forum

-
The first biker was down south, central scotland. Some guy sat by the motorway (M90), I didn't see him until it was too late so went along to the next junction, U-turn, back on the other side to the previous junction, U-turn again just before where the guy was. Turned out he'd ran out of petrol, but left his phone with his mates so just manged to make it to the SOS box to dial the AA. Unfortunatly I didn't have a can in the back, and I had a load of steel so no room for his bike. I
could have gone along to the next service station, bought (another!!) can then filled it up, but it'd have meant loads of arsing about going from junction to junction then back again on the other side so I let him borrow my phone to call his mates and let him be...
Hour or 2 later on the A9...pitch black and raining. Go past a layby and see a biker standing next to a bike on the phone, I thought hmm I wonder if he's broken down, so went 2 miles or so up to the next turning, span round, drove past the layby on the other side and he's still there, so again I spin round so I'm now a mile beofre the layby facing in the right direction. Get to the layby again and he's still there on the phone, get out and ask "whassup". Turns out his bike (BMW GS1200, LWR bike) cut out whilst riding, won't fire up and he's in a que on the AA automated service. So with the aid of the transits headlights and my decent torch I gave it the once over and checked the fuses etc, but they're very complex and I wouldn't know where to start on one. Nothing was out of place so I told him to get in the van to keep dry whilst on the phone. Again the van is full of steel so no room for a bike.
After about 25mins of him being on hold (recorded message said "exceptionally busy" period) he eventually got through. And after more phonecalls back a garage is despatched to come pick him up.
So we were sat chatting in the van for over 1hr 30 in total waiting for the (other

) recovery. Area has NO radio reception at all so it was just us and the trance/dance/HH mp3s on my phone.
When the recovery turned up the biker took one of my leaflets and said he might be intouch about getting the fecked bike moved in a few days
Then, another hour tops later see a car in a layby with the hazzards on so pull in. Walk up to the sporty looking car (not sure what it was) and there's a girl and a guy inside....tap on the window and the bird jumps a mile
Said they'd had a flat tyre 10 miles before on drivers side rear tyre, so they stopped and switched for the spare, then they'd just had the front tyre go aswell

nae luck
I offered to help but they said the insurance was on the way so I left them to it....I'm sure they found a way to amuse themselves whilst waiting
Essay over
So what were you doing
up here steve?
