Turbo Addition

Postby Aquanaut » Mon Sep 12, 2005 5:27 pm

I've just bought a 1999 100L LWB Transit, 2.5 non-turbo diesel.
Unfortunately its a power slug, 25mph up steep hills, but not bad on the flat. Its a slow hall pulling the Dive Boat.

Does anyone know if it is possible to add a turbo to this engine or what would be the best replacement to use?
Petrol is sky rocketing these days , so I'm thinking of a 2.8 TDi of some sort.
Any help much appreciated.
Any contacts as to where I could find reasonable priced engines & gearboxes.
Thanks lads

Welcome, Aquanaut. Not a good idea to put a turbo onto a regular engine, the turbo engines have different pistons for a start so a regular engine just won't last long with a turbo bolted to it. If you are prepared for the expense, be replace the whole engine with a TDi, you will need the ECU to match as well. Sorry can't help you with locating parts as I don't know much about your part of the world!
