Engine Number Location MK5 PETROL

Postby Tania » Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:06 am

Hi i am trying to locate the Engine Number on a 2.0 L - I4
MK5 FORD Transit Van with a Petrol 2.0 DOHC 115 hp, 4 pot, 8 valve engine 02/99 VIN WFOLXXBDVLXC08676
so far i have found something that says - Front left-hand side under the distributor (im in australia) .
Is the distributor the double twin coil pack at front of engine ? or where can i find the distributor, surely i wouldnt have to pull the coil pack off to find engine number, the engineer want see the van till i can locate the engine number. HELP PLEASE and thank you Tania.

The distributor is only on the car version of that engine, in the van it has the 2 coil packs, the distributor is usually on the LH side of the cylinder head where your LH coil pack is :?

It might not help, but if its the original engine the number will be the same as the last 7(?) digits of the chassis number.

It is acceptable for engine numbers to be hidden behind components, on the diesel you have to take the power steering/aircon pumps off

This is the 2.3 - but it is a derivative of the same engine, so there is a reasonable chance it will be in the same place?
