CHT SENSOR.2.0 DOHC PETROL.

CHT sensor has failed (2.0 petrol dohc engine) so the fan is constantly on..anyway to get around this ? Cos i cant find a sensor anywere..

Put a switch in the feed to the fan controller

Are they obselete at main dealer ?

It won’t have a cht as such,it will have and ECT,usually onto thermostat housing.
Have you code read or data logged it to confirm,as the older engine management system,EEC5 I’m guessing,
Will run cooling fan when it sees a fault or goes into ‘limp home strategy’

Yup..nothing at the main dealers,or anywere else.the sensor plugs into the block .very difficult to get at..it has a two pin grey connector (apparently the colour is important) my garage said it was a cht sensor..

What diagnostics have led to the conclusion it’s that sensor that’s faulty ?

The garage tested the part and told me it wasnt working.mind you they tried to remove it and ripped the plug off in doing so !!. So at the moment the fan is running permently.

Does the CHT/ECT sensor operate the auto choke?

Done some more digging,I’m still convinced that is not the right sensor,or causing the fault.
(I’m sure that’s for the temp gauge on dash only)
But,it is still available both from Ford and aftermarket.

That’s the gen.ford so expensive,using that part number you will find loads of cheaper options,I.E.

If the wires to that sender,are black with blue trace and possibly just black.
It’s for the gauge only,has no effect on engine management or cooling fan.

Where that sensor fits,there should be another next to it,towards rear of van.
This is engine management coolant temp sensor,(PCM then controls fans and speed via relays and resistor.)

The wires to this sensor should be white and green/brown and green.

Fault could lie with this sensor or wiring,faulty fan relays,vehicle in ‘limp’ mode or the aircon switches pulling fans in....

What colour is the wiring to it’s plug ?
Have got the sensor itself out,or the broken piece ? There’s a part number on the plastic part of the sensor.

All the info from Ford shows the sensors,with that plug/type at the front.
The rounder type to the rear....
If that sender is broke,all that shouldn’t work is the temp gauge ?
Don’t ask me why it’s uploaded the pic sideways,click on it and it shows correctly...
