6 stud brake discs

Postby caercamper » Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:35 pm

Hi all

I've got some brake pedal judder in my 1994 150L which, given the rear brakes have recently been looked at, seem likely to be the front. Will check for run out to confirm that the discs are warped at some point soon.

Only problem I'm having is looking for new brake discs. It's a 6 stud axle and all the spare parts I can find online are for 5 stud. Does anyone know the part number for appropriate 6 stud brake discs? Or where to get them?

Thanks in advance

Not necessarily the discs, if whoever did the rear brakes gave them a good walloping with a hammer to get the drums off or did the wheel nuts up with a windy gun and gave it the beans both things can distort the drums.

While driving GENTLY apply the hand brake.
Keep the button pressed in and do on off,on off.

If you feel judder it's at the rear end.

I tend to agree with the above post suggesting that it is in fact your rear drums that may have been distorted due to the heavy handedness of the person that last removed them.......New rear drums for 15 inch wheels (6 stud) can be got for £90 a pair new from TPUK......or if you're not too far away from Durham I have at least one new pair £50 I also have new front discs for the same £45 the pair including new pads.

Sorry should have been clearer - I don’t think it’s the rear because they’ve recently been rebuilt and it was a problem both before and after. And I had a sticky NSF caliper for a while so wondering if it warped. I’ll have a go with the handbrake and seen - and might drop you a line about those brakes! Thanks

When you say 5 stud... count how many bolts hold your brake discs on ;)

6 stud discs are 270mm, 5 stud are 254mm - they look the same other than that

Are you sure??

The brake disc is held on the to back of the hub by the M10 bolts around the bearing cap... the disc isn't secured in any way buy the wheel studs.

I think mk3 counties were the only variant that used 6 bolts to secure the disc to the hub
