Timing belt tensioner? Tell us more Brian?

Feel the heater pipes at the back of the engine where they go through the bulkhead to the heater to see if they are hot as an easy starting place.

Not the timing belt Chug, my van has air con so has a tensioner for the pump, the pipes are quite hot so I'm suspecting the matrix is blocked, just seems strange it's all happened at the same time, the heater has always been very good.

Due to heater, hose issues and the possibility of having to bypass the heater,
I've ordered one of these.

It probably a bit sh*t,but a bit of sh*t is better than no sh*t on cold mornings.

If you lost water circulation you probably disslodged some rust in the hot spots and it's blocked the matrix (if the pipes are hot but the air is cool) pop them off and flush the matrix BOTH directions and see if tha thelps :? Or the water pump impeller has melted due to overheating and or come loose from the waterpump spindle? depends on what water pump you have ? seen a lot of the cheaper waterpumps have the impeller come loose and loose curculation after an AUX belt failier :?:
TBH all i would expect with those elecric heaters is to be dissapointed, 50A through thosde little clamps ? make sure you use decent cable cabable of transmitting 50A or the only thing that will defrost the screen is the resulting cable fire ! i've fitted them in kit cars in the past :?

Lolz.mixed reviews on the Lecky heater.
Most did change the flimsy wire for more sturdy stuff.

If the van catches fire it'll be nice and warm

I shall see tomorrow if my super Mario type copper plumbing has cured my water leak.

+1 on the flush back and forth to dislodge inner engine water way nasties.

I have in the past dissolved a dishwasher tablet and put it in the header tank.
Run for a few days.
Then drain down/flush and refill with coolant.

Non aircon vans have full hot water flow through the heater all the time, and heat is controlled by where the air is directed...

Aircon vans have a control valve to direct the water flow - its vacuum controlled, and located below the expansion tank - check all the hoses from it are warm. The AC Belt tensioner failing shouldn't cause the symptoms you describe as its not a related part (well it is, but its not...)

The heater arrived.
Will it kill me is debatable.

Opened the box and the smell of China filled the room

Sorted
Matt was near the answer, one of the vacuum pipes right underneath the control unit had parted company and had disappeared down in the depths,it should be plugged in underneath the control unit so as you look at it from above nothing looked amiss, nice and toasty again.
