Stalling, Fuel and other ponderings ... thankyou

Postby muddycampers » Thu May 12, 2022 5:32 pm

Hi I have a 1989 Ford autosleeper Frisky campervan
It failed it's MOT due to some welding needs but sadly the agarge welder had covid and was off for 3 months
It was started daily to move out the garage workshop
now returned all sparkly and passed
But today i drove it for the first time and it stalled at every junction
Despite the owner of the garage checking it yesterday and his driver having no problems in the 10 mile drive to me
They had put some E5 fuel in ... I normally use E10
My partner then came home and drove it and it was fine ... only a little grizzly .... Spooky ... But I have driven and ok too

I wonder if it could be because the fuel was low and maybe some rust from bottom of the tank in the system OR something to do with the fuel

I spoke to the garage a few months ago as to whether the E10 was ok and they thought it was ....

Any thoughts from any of your knowledgeable persectives??

I joked with the kids that it is because I told them to empty it as I thought maybe we should sell it!

does it have an idle control valve?
not worked on many transit twincams TBH, it shouldn't be low fuel dragging in rust as the pick up pipe is at the bottom of the tank anyway so allways draws from the bottom :?

I will ask the garagae about that ..... I have heard a few times that the rust can come up if left to go to low?
I wondered if it was something to do with the fuel
Cheers
