0-100kmh (0-60mph) times? And maybe problem

Postby Ransettimies » Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:18 am

Yeah i know... These are not drag racers. My friend recomended me good app to measure accelerations (for another car).

But i was curious to check transit stats also. time was 38.5 seconds! Im shocked!

I looked graph and 0-80kmh (0-50mph) was 20 seconds and it feels crispy. But final 20kmh / 10mph tooked allmost same time! I swear thats been faster before.

I can overtake pretty easy 80->100kmh (50->60mph) but raw acceleration makes something wrong.

Although it has been off the road for a few years, AndyG has a Mk5 85ps Turbo Automatic, and did a timed 0-60 a while back.
The result is his signature:-
Ford Transit 120 TDI EPIC Automatic. 0-60 in a leisurely and smooth 12.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 19.1 seconds. Now where's all these faster? manual Di s?
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

Lol.is it April 1st.
They can't do 60mph.

Simple equation to work it out.

Speed / time X ambient temperature ÷
wind speed + weight gives us the answer for 0-60.

And it's measured in weeks rather than seconds.

I stand corrected about the 60mph.

Just for a laugh I'll time this next time we're out (couple of weeks) and report back.

I've visited a weighbridge and was 2840Kg with me in it, but its the 115ps model (23 years ago, anyway).

I measured the acceleration speed to 100 km / h twice on the 4.56 gearbox and on the 3.31 gearbox.
Both times the same time - 26 seconds.
But I'm not doing the acceleration correctly - I don't spin the engine up to the maximum torque when starting off and to the maximum speed when shifting gears.

That under 30 seconds feels right to me if you compare it to same horsepower diesels. Mercedes w124 will made it about 17 seconds but its lighter and more aerodynamic.
