What did you do to your mk 3/4/5 today.

Here's another thing.

Load sensing valve spring has left the building.
It has gone/vanished done a runner.

The valve still appears to be free.

Are the springs available OR do I have to buy a new valve with the accompanying spring?

Vroom vroom.

My van looks like a dog pissing up a lamppost.

if you fit both lower leaves will the u bolts be long enough?
I don't see a part number for the spring only so it looks like its a new load sensing valvehttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323815779694

Cheers for confirming my worst fears.
73 turnips for a spring
Although a shiny valve is thrown in for free

U bolts would accommodate the extra leaf if fitted

Vroom vroom

Frankenspring

U bolts seem ok.
You only need them on the first couple threads don't you

Re the load valve spring.
It appears you can get them for hairdressers vans.

Is it an option to try or would it be £20 thrown in the air?

Made the centre pin out of an M10 bolt.
Rounded the head to fit the locating hole on the axle in true bjt style

Spring is not available seperately...

but here is a half price option.

Some bodgery would be required to swap the spring over. Also check before buying a valve whether you need the 2 port or 4 port option

Deffo the 2 pipe version.

Bodgery is my middle name

I'd warmed up and rebent the old one several times when the hook bit had snapped off before it totally vanished this time.

Arghhhhhh stripped one of the U bolts.

Don't know why I had a pair of verrrrrrry long ones, although had to cut an inch off it as my deep socket wasn't deep enough

Seemed a false economy not taking the drum off while I was there.
Then remembered I'd renewed the shoes and springs last year, thanks to Matt

Adjusted the shoes 1 click and the bloody drum was binding so badly (foooookme the self adjusters must be working)

No lip on the drum btw.

Vroom vroom chaps.

Oh something in the back of my mind tells me not to fully tighten the Ubolts until the wheels are on and it's on the floor.

Might be me having a 'senior moment" though.

Other side to follow.
Let's see if it sits any better when finished

Frankenspring MK2 is in the other side now.
Srripped the threads on both when tighting this time

Ordered replacements

Sticking a extra leaf in,albeit the bottom one has given 2" lift on the back end.

I was expecting the depth of the leaf which most certainly isn't 2".

Right chaps.
After using heat/plusgas more heat, soaking in plusgas overnight.
Stillsons with a 3' pipe and using the rattlegun on the bolt.
Haven't managed to get the bush sleeve off the threads or indeed get the bolt to spin within the wishbone.

Anyone got the part numbers for the bolt and front bush.

Brute force isn't working in this case

The replacement wishbone came with the back one fitted.

The destroyed one is the subframe one the front bolt goes through.

Much ass grassiass as Ned would probably say
