Heavy breathing 2.5di

Postby Ransettimies » Tue May 16, 2023 9:28 pm

Hello

When i deleted egr i put crankcase ventilation filter end of hose which was connected to intake. Oil filter was dirty because oil fumes.

Now its breathing visible steam at engine compartment, if i remove filter there is oil splashes.

Engine starts like new hot or cold, runs pretty ok and smokes only black when throttlet heavily.

But im worrying about that heavy breathing.. how about others?

I am also interested in egr deletion for the 2.5di and if it is worth it?

Its not clear to me what you did with the crankcase ventilation filter hose?

When blocking off the EGR there is no need to modify the crankcase breather hose. You plug the small hose that was connected to the EGR.

If you have blanked the crankcase breather hose then you will be pressurising the engine which is bad! This will end up blowing crankshaft front and rear seals resulting in oil leaks

Blanking egr is supposed to release a couple of horses.

Stick an oil catch can on and vent under the bonnet/to atmosphere rather than back in the engine intake.

Usually find when mine starts breathing particularly heavy it's telling me it's service time.

When did it last have an oil change?
