Problem PATS mk5

Postby Yemelc » Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:40 pm

Hello,

I have a problem with PATS of my transit mk5 camping car.

I have 3 keys and just 1 of them works correctly. It's weird because the others keys work good before.

Do you know how is it possible ?

Is it the PATS system could cause this problem ?

I tied to connect Forscan but de PATS module isn't found...

Sorry for my poor english, i'm form france.

What does the LED do when you use the other keys?

So that would be code 15. Do you know what that means?

code 15 is "incorrect key code or unprogrammed key being used"

So the key was either never programmed for the van, has been damaged, or has somehow lost it programming.

I have had personal experience of cloned keys losing programming

Thanks for the information.
At least one of the keys that no longer works worked. What surprises me is that when I bought the truck the seller gave me three black keys but no red key.
Also I believe that the epic lucas injection pump was changed once a few years ago.
Is there a solution to program several keys in my case?

The all red key was stopped in 1996, after that you just need 2 coded keys to programme a new one in.

What year is your transit?

It's from 1998, I only have one coded key.

I don't know the procedure for coding several of them.

My Ford dealer has not been able to scrap the truck because he tells me it is too old. :?

Hello,

Do you know why it's so difficult to clone a key?

An auto locksmith should be able to cut and clone a key, but that original needs to be a working key.

Do the keys that you have all have the transponder chip in place, I don't know if a '98 should have red, or blue, chips, but it needs to be there.

98 is red chip Al.

Its not difficult to clone keys at all.

Unfortunately, unless you have 2 unique keys (i.e. not cloned ones) then additional keys can't be easily added.

IDS is needed (Ford dealer should still be able to do this!) or a good independent locksmith can. I can clone or add keys - its actually easier for me to add new ones rather than clone - but im not coming to France any time soon
