Insurance

Postby Terry » Tue Dec 06, 2005 9:01 pm

I have been told by a man who CLAIMS to know, that from next year the
'able to drive other vehicles' clause will be removed from ALL policies.

As an aside last time I renewed the tranny policy, the insurance co included a clause that I couldn't drive it more than 100 miles from it's base.

Do you need me to tell you they upped the premium when I advised them
that as a commercial vehicle that was ludicrous.

When you insure a vehicle on the continent your certificate is
automatically a 'green card' mainly because the certificate is printed on green card and says which countries it is valid for, why as we are now a fully paid up member of the E.E.C. do ours not fall into line,
why do our certificates state this certificate has the validity of a green card ! ? ! ? .
I had to show mine in Switzerland last month & it was O.K. but why
are we not falling into line with the rest.
I got a little black book with me poems in

I looked into this monthly traders insurance Fred and you need to be in the motor trader to make the cover legal!

yeah I heard about the 'driving other vehicles' being removed soon too but I thought i'd try and keep it on there for as long as pos.
Heard on the news today about motor garages ripping people off etc etc - they should investigate insurance companies!!!! In america I think you insure yourself not the vehicle?
I think in the u.k. gradually the number of people driving with no insurance will increase, they just buy old bangers with a years tax and mot and drive them til they die or need taxing again.

In america your insure just the vehicle, so anybody can drive an insured vehicle!

Our (permanant) traders policy describes us as Vehicle Delivery Agents. We don't actually sell anything, and the insurance company knows this. It was like pulling teeth to get the right policy, but it was worth the research. Many brokers just ran sreaming when I mentioned the film work. For some reason the think we are going to go around deliberately ploughing into bus ques and slamming into walls, then claiming off the insurance. They seem to confuse 'Action vehicle' with 'Action Film', ie stunt work!

Insurance

I think you will find the insurance companies 'accidently' confuse
anything with the dearest premium.
I deliver newspapers with mine, the first quote I got was for £1800.00
I phoned and explained it was not a Maclaren F1, and they explained that the silly young lady on their computer must have logged it as a 'general courier deliveries' accidently, so they reduced it by £400 ,thats a hell of a misread out of my pocket !
