1998 2.5d pump adjustment

Hi, Ive a 1998 2.5d with Bosch pump pumping out black smoke under load and high revs. Ive been told I need to turn the pump down. My question is the adjustment screw at the back of the pump hiden by the security/Pump bracket? Thanks for any info.

The one at the back (near the pipes) adjusts Max fuelling, (sounds like yours is turned up too much)

The one under the cap on top adjusts Mid Range fuelling, (which can give you a useful increase in torque) can also create black smoke if overdone.

Only adjust both in small amounts as there is no reference point to go back to

You sure its not an egr or air filter fault ?
