Front shocks and spring replacement Mk5 190

Postby Fo-Banshee » Fri Mar 29, 2019 9:54 am

I'm changing my front coil springs and shocks in my MK5 2.5td LWB. Looks to be a pretty standard sort of setup and easy to get to ,except the springs are a little more heavy duty then the cars I've worked on. If anybody has changed theirs, is there anything I should watch out for or need to know beforehand thats specific to the transits? cheers in advance.

Dead easy, shock off(unbolt top before jacking) and spring will come out. No compressor required

Thanks Mislaid, it looked straight forward. Visually same setup as a few ford sedans I've worked on. I'm fitting the King springs raised coils 20mm higher than stock. The old are a little saggy and the weight of the bullbar doesn't help. Going to fit Gabriel gas shocks which a friend recommended and turned out to be well priced.(if I call them cheap I feel uneasy)
