bosche pump conervsion timing

Postby chain13 » Fri Mar 20, 2026 8:57 am

Hi there , just a quick question , i replaced t belt and pulleys on my transit and it has a bosche pump fitted to it so timing is a bit different , i found a thread that said to set it with dial guage to 0.35mm at tdc with pin in crankshaft and cam , it shuts off a bit sharp when turning off but runs good and no smoke or anything . has anyone worked out whats optimum for dial gauge setting or do i just keep dialling it back by 0.05mm . its just a pain pulling it down each time to readjust , thanks cheers

is that one those dial indicators that are worn and don't spring back

please state your engine size each time as 2.5 .. as i have to go back to your past posts to find out .. i'm getting old and cant remember everyone.

as regards .. never done this before and just reading the manual

in the 2.5 manual, it says injection timing 11 degrees before top dead centre on number 1 cylinder - lucas epic pump with turbo charged engine ......... that's all i have!

and the timing for the pump is by marks and holes .. only see dial gauge being used for piston pertrution and the flywheel / valve timing set up, and crankshaft end float .. unless i missed something which is easy to do with these manual in pdf form.

and if conversion as stated .. sorry - ive no idea!

i could try and help you .. if i had the same info as you , from that source

all the best .. mark
