mondeo/transit speedo

ive just got a set of clocks from a mondeo diesel Nreg with the rev counter to upgrade my transit to have a rev counter , this set from the mondeo was the eletric speedo type , my transit is Sreg 150 td with the eletric speedo , i swap everything over and the rev counter worked and all the lights did too , but the speedo never worked
anyone any idea why the speedo never worked??

how did you connect the rev counter

just pluged it stright in , its already pre-wired for a rev counter , the rev counter worked , it was the speedo which never worked

im the other way round speedo works but not rev counter what type of alternator do you have.

im not sure without looking , i know the rev counter is easy to wire up , i did it to an ex-omega

i wired mine up and it works sort of
it read 7000 rpm instead of 700rpm

i dont know , not unless you put the wire to the alternator to the wrong terminal , what years ya van???????

Not have too much of a dig but this is a good example of why I started the mondeo cluster thread...extra bits of information (assuming this is relatively easy to fix) get to be all over the forum. I would guess and it is a guess that the speedo unit itself is dead simple replacement assuming you can get another correct speedo unit, afterall you don't get to test electrical parts especially at the breakers.
