Imobilising an imobiliser

Hey Ron,
Imobilisers are usually pretty easy to remove if you just take your time and don't start cutting through wires at random!
They would usually disable the starter and the fuel pump. It sounds like yours has developed a fault and is no longer connecting the fuel pump when it should. You may be able to fix this and keep using the imobiliser or just bypass it so that it inly imobilises the starter.
It's an after market type so the first thing I'd do would be to find it, find the make/model and get some instructions for it.

Thanks for the posting, I think I have found the immobiliser but lots of wires, scary for me, There are some labels stuck on it and one as a ford name on it and the other as some numbers on it . So like you say I may be able to find out about it on some web-site or other. BTW when I try to start the van by turning the key nothing happens just a slight click.
I am trying to see if the starter motor is faulty.Ill just keep trying.

does the van bump start - it will if its only the starter motor at fault!

Hi All
Problem sorted, not excactly the immobilisers fault, it was a broken connection in the starter relay box but it was wired into the immobiliser.
so the immo.wouldnt let the starter work. I am a bit annoyed that I couldnt sort it mysef ,I had to get a fitter in. Still job done and he also immobilised the immobiliser.
