can you run your transit on vege oil????

Hey folks ive been looking into the idea of running my van on vege oil, much cheaper than diesel, ive seen quite a few conversion kits out there and was wondering if anybody had any exp. of this. is the transit suitable, if you have a conversion how has it been, what did you go for two tank kit or the single tank kit. any advice would be great as diesel sure isn't going to get any cheaper.

i have run my merc 190d on it for over 18mths no problems about 10% diesel the rest new veg oil then i got a shogun 2.5 td that didnt like running on that mix so i bought a veg oil heater off flea bay £36 fitted half an hour run on neet with no problems have a look at dieselveg.com i think it will run on it just depends on getting the mix right veggys alot thicker than diesel so u do need to thin down with a bit of diesel i know people that have got escort diesel on it no problem the only thing i wouldnt advise is using used oil as it will contain animal fats that thicken up then cold and that can cause problems hope this help and good luck with it

thanks folkd. im def giving it a try, i met a mate today whos been running it for a couple of years on different cars, he goes for pretty much straight veg in the summer and 50/50 during the winter, i dont reckon itd need to be so high for winter but its all trial n error i guess, i think i have a look at those heater could sort out any cold morning probs.

yer mate just put so much in try it and then a bit ,bit more thats what i did got it spot on in the end if you put to much in it will still start but put diesel in to thin if this happens you will get it right an its sound 42p litre asda

Oh and of course I am sure you will be telling Mr Customs and Exsise if you use veg oil in your van. I know I would..............

off course you have to if you do inform them they send you a form out every month to fill in and let them no how many litres u have used but they have no way off noing how much u have used so just pay for 5 litres ? or something that way u are covered if you get a pull

ye spanners thats the technique ill use, bit by bit, and for the tax man, well he always gets his bit of everything, thats his job, even if it is is ridiculously high, right or wrong, still go to pay, and it'll still work out cheaper. think its 27p per litre so thats still about 15/20p cheaper per litre, which is far better off in my pocket.
