The best way to get a viscous hub off is to use a hammer and prybar, with the fanbelt still in place holding the pulley tight, locate the prybar on of the central BIG nut's flats, and give it a whack. If you get it right the nut will undo and you'll be able to spin the hub off with your fingers. It can even be tightened the same way.

there is plenty of room do the belt with the rad and slam panel in place.

I did remove the fan, undo the 4 bolts on the front that bolt the fan to the viscous coupling and then it should just pull off. You can also remove the 4 bolts that hold the pulley on behind the fan as that makes it easier to get the cambelt cover off.

Argh! got ya! That would have made it a dam site more easy than the way i did it on Sunday! Then again it was chuckin it down and blowing a gale! not a nice job to do in those condidtions

Sat down and had a closer look at the old tensioner today and the reason for failure wasn't bearings but the the spring on the back!
