radio brackets

hows it goin,my 99 transit has no radio just a big gaping hole,ive got a sony radio to put in but there doesnt seem to be any way of holding it in place,is there any brackets or a cradle that can be got,i want something that will hold my radio and c.b together also

You can get converter plate to fit a normal DIN sized radio from ebay but you won't be able to get anything to hold a CB and a Radio at the same time...well you can but it won't look pretty (meccano strip) I would consider making a roof console for the CB...many years ago you could buy these in both vacum formed plastic and plywood but this was the days of Custom Van magazine or something like that when you had all manner of vans customised with running boards and how to's explaining how to add lights to the running boards and detailed plans for drinks holders and how to fit Captain seats etc etc...I had a load of these mags but threw them out in the early 80's. Now if you decide to go some other route and want to change your dash to a single din with a 2nd Din hole below (this would be a better option for fitting both pieces of gear since you have two identical slots and no paper/document slot underneath) I would be interested in the double Din section you have already assuming it is clean and scratch free...just an option for you if you want a more factory look. The Double DIN I believe was from 97 onwards so earlier is the model to look for.

go to your local transit breaker and buy a dash panel from an early smiley with the smaller radio - this has a storage tray underneath the radio which can be taken out to fit a second radio - all you'll need to do is install the fitting cages that came with the radios into the holes
