Some just "glug" and some get water/diesel draining out. So I guess its feasable it could suck a little air in before letting diesel out?

Air getting in to the system is a possibility - hence my suggestion to do the leak off mod

Hi Minor matt,

Just reading through your advice again, before attempting tomorrow morning. WHen I have re-arranged the pipes for the leak off mod, do I then start the engine?? As you can tell I am an absolute novice.

well you could leave it until you need to go somewhere.

Not all of the diesel sent to the injectors is used, the excess and any air leaves via the 2 little nipples at the top

air escaping means air getting in, check all the fuel connections, start at the lift pump and all the way up to the fuel filter, change the fuel filter and make sure its prefilled with fuel or injector cleaner but make sure the connections are good and tight, then crack off injector no1 and clear the air out, when it starts keep the revs up for 15secs and see how you go from there
