Side Door Latch

Hello all,

Having a problem with my N/S Side loading door, it's not shutting properly. The latch just doesnt hold it. Having lubricated the latch im thinking I need to replace it. How easy is this has any one tried? Ive got a feeling the door my have to come off. I have a Ford TIS disc but could'nt find any drawing or diagrams to help,

Any help would be greatly received,

Remove door card and soak mechanism with WD40 (the latch end, not the handle end) and it should be ok
Basically the rod is not returning fully (probably a bit of corrosion/stiffness) and keeping the latch in the "release" position

The small (movable part) inside the latch is very loose, the tiniest of pressure will open it up. When I undid the 2 torx bolts I could see a flat bar going inside the door, i take it this is what may be stiff?

hi,im having exactly the same problem with mine,how did you get to the release mechanism to lubricate it ?

To be honest it was dead easy, inner door card off, undo small nut holding the long latch cable, then undo 2 torx screws on latch and pull out (i didnt remove the cable all together to save having to mess around with threading the cable back) I used a bit of plus gas to free the small plate where the rod connects (it took about 10 mins to work it free) well lubricated the latch itself and refitted.

Took about 45 mins in total and now the side door shuts perfectly.
