Look at the responses to your original post. How many people told you to change the resistor? How many of us also told you that it wouldn't be the switch at fault?
Maybe because the switches are cheap, and easier to get to than the resistor? I kind of knew it would be the switch on my sidelight issue, but still checked the connectors first before ordering the new part. When diagnosing a fault, most of us like to try the easier stuff first, before the more akward jobs.
The resistor is cheaper and easier than the switch (£15 off ebay) whereas even the cheapest switch is £40 odd
