hello merry xmas to you all my 1997 none turbo 2.5 di starts first time every time with nuw batt fitted but when starting first thing it starts then stops after a 2/3 secs then starts againe and keeps runing it does this everyday once runing it starts fine all day ? :?

Are you giving it some revs when you first start it from cold? If not then you need to.

If you still got the EGR connected check the butterfly ain't closed too much.

Tighten up any slack in the linkage, worked for me.

Some say to start with foot flat to the boards, then release before revs too much......

Murf - I have a '98 transit van and in this weather it wont tick over first thing in the morning when its cold.. When starting in the morning I just sit there with my foot on the throttle for about 2 minutes at low revs (say quick idle) then its fine. This last week I have been using an block paving brick layed on the throttle pedal while i de-ice the windscreen - Seems to work :D

maybe u got a little bit of air getin into the fuel pipes or filer over nite.u start up on fuel in pump then air enters pump and she dies :wink:

sorted the loose linkage to the egr cheked for fule leaks none turned the key foot flat to the floor started ran for 3/4 sec cut out tryed again started and she ran fine :?:

Like mr bean, you need some rope on the steering wheel now and a broom so you can drive it while sitting on the roof :lol: :lol: :lol:
