hazard lights problem

hi i've just bought a s reg transit 2.5 d (70ps) ex bt van i've got a problem with the hazard lights when i switch them on only the nearside lights work but if i put the indicator on for the offside all 4 lights flash has anyone got any ideas what's up

I have always found this to be caused by a faulty hazard light switch ir the plug on the back of it.

I have just fixed this problem on my van by turning them on and off quickly about 20 times, must have been a bad dirty contact in the switch.
