fuel cap

hi ows u managing with snow ?
any way got a problem with fuel cap , had to rip it off ..... got the bits out of tank inlet now it takes ages to fill . what av i left in, any help please 2000 smiley transit

there will be something jammed in the filer neck, put the cap back together on the table and see what parts are missing, the barrel or the locking arm is the most likely part

got all the plastic out + locking arm but inside is a metal rim with thread in it
may be anti theft mech dont know may be its stuck
i can move it around but cant pull it out
any ideas?

take off the metal or plastic piece from inside the van and remove the plastic filler pipe you can ten look inside the tank and the pipe...failing that remove the tank.

I think I have found out what the problem is....the white plastic piece from the filler/fuel cap has gone down the pipe.

The metal ring inside the tank is an anti-theft device which needs to be horizontal instead of verticle to let the fuel through.

Spoke to Bro (ford parts man), he confirmed the loss of the white piece down the pipe, and the only way it can get past is if the metal ring inside the pipe is angled???...

I will let you know how I get on.
