low on power

hi im new to the transit world and have just bought a mk5 swb 2.5 non turbo

when i first drove the van i was a bit disaponted by the performance but i just asumed that it was right and id just have to cope. but today i drove a friends transit witch is the same as mine and it had considarably more poke so he had a drive of mine and he said there is defenatly something wrong

any ideas what could be wrong or any tips how to get a little more power out of the engine

A full and proper service 1st, including oil, oil and air filters, tappet adjustment, timing and or new timing belt, throttle cable adjustment :!:

If it still feels slow (compared) then :arrow: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3968

Thanks for those threads Andy - bit too advanced for me, so will print that page off and get my mate who's a mechanic to check it out then hopefully my tappets and timing will be set right :wink:
