Sump required

Hello

I hope you guys can help. I have a 1989 1.6 petrol transit (camper) that desperately needs a new sump.

I've done all the usual ebay and google searches to no avail and my local ford commercial dealer says they are a discontinued part.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or know of a friendly breaker that might still have these old lumps around?

(Ford part number is 1552855 and they were also fitted to Granadas up to 1984 according to my local ford dealer)

I'll post in the parts wanted section too.

I'm in Orpington, Kent but I travel about a bit so could pick one up from pretty well anywhere.

The ford dealer reckons that a standard Pinto 1.6 sump WILL NOT fit and they are a different part number anyway. He assures me that the one I want was only ever fitted to transits and Granadas. (I'm not au fait with fords enough to doubt his word)

However I've seen a couple go on ebay for silly cheap prices so I might take a punt and risk it if nothing else comes up. It might only be a small difference that could be modified.

Anything is better than the wafer-thin-mint excuse for a sump I've got at the moment.

alrite mate transit ones are different on the petrol bigger but sierra ones etc will fit no problems ive changed mine to a sierra no problem hope the clears that up for you ? good luck mate

What about the oil 'pick up'

sorry i ment i have changed my engine to a sierra 1.6 and the sump does touch anywere so im un sure on the oil pipes but u could allways check that part number might be the same ???

Thanks for the update.

I bought a standard 1.6 sump off ebay and I'll be checking it out as soon as it arrives.

I'll let you know if it fits
