can anybody tell me what the orange light is on the lefthand side of the dash on a march 98 diesel transit ?

If it looks like a tank of water it will be the 'water in fuel filter' light? Drain water from the bottom of the filter until clean diesel comes out.

Water in fuel light probably if it's a diesel.
There's a drain plug on the bottom of the fuel filter.
