Do you know how to post pictures ?
If your van is a 98 with an earlier engine, there won`t be any wiring for coldstart :?

The coldstart wire would come off the end stud on black part,go to a 2 terminal (temperature)switch in the block behind fuel filter, then into loom.(it is a +12V ignition feed)

Best try & post a picture

Right, one terminal of the switch you`ve found connects directly to the stud on the end of coldstart mechanism,
The other terminal which i assume is spare on your van, needs connecting to +12volt FUSED feed, which is only 12Volts when ignition is switched on.
(it doesn`t matter which wire goes on which terminal of block switch,it simply makes or breaks circuit.)

If your van did not have this coldstart mech fitted before and you are looking for an ignition supply 12v feed, either connect (via a fuse) into stop solenoid on pump,or there should be a 12volt ignition feed to wiper motor .
The coldstart itself doesn`t pull much current but a fuse is advisable as a matter of caution/safety. :!:

If you`re not sure, fire away with any more questions :)

ok so i plug the soliniod wire into the connector and get another piece of wire with a fuse in the middle and connect it to the same power wire as the wiper motor aswell as the connector, or could i just connect the fused wire to the block connector and then to the battery should that work?? anyway thanks so much for your time and help

If you wire straight to battery, soleniod will be live all the time (if engine temp is above 11 deg) even with keys out,it really needs putting to an ignition feed, wiper motor or pump stop solenoid being easiest i can think of under bonnet.
