Mk3 2.5D i think??

Postby born2ride » Wed Dec 30, 2009 10:54 pm

Hi guys I have a few questions for you, Firstly i Came across this site via google and i must say, Its the best place i could ask for for information!!!, Already saved a picture posted up by one member of the fuse panel. Ok Im new to the transit scene and have just bought a 1990 Ford Transit 100 2.5D, Reg of G119 ALC and wanted to know the full spec of the van, I tried to use the website that lists your vehicles spec when entering your reg/vin but it did not work?. My second question is, I bought the van knowing it had a weak alternator, Checked charge rate etc and confirmed it was weak/faulty, One other symptom it had was, When starting vehicle it would not charge until the throttle was blipped and then it would charge. Seeings as im in the trade i was lucky enough to source a brand new alternator and vac pump at a respectable price (New vac pump for sale if anyone is interested?), After fitting of the new alternator, I am now getting a good charge rate of 14V, But still experiencing the fault of non charge after vehicle is started, As it still needs a quick blip of the throttle to engage the charging. Is there a relay that engages charge, Or is it just a case of checking all my earths, Any help is greatly welcomed.
Regards
Craig

The vehicle details on the ETIS site may not come up because of the vans age.

Having to blip the throttle is correct.

Ah thats understandable i suppose given the age, Just to clarify, Having to blip the throttle for the battery light to go out and then charge without issues at 14V is normal?

Ill buy a new switch :), no harm in asking tho. Just a quick question, My van takes forever to heat up, and barely gets into the norm position, Ive felt the hoses on the rad and the top one is warm yet the bottom one is always cold, Is this due to a faulty thermostat? I do have a good amount of anti freeze so i know the coolant isnt freezing also.....?
