Rear crossmember on tipper chassis

Postby thelonglane » Mon Feb 22, 2010 11:24 pm

Hey lads.
New here but i got me a 2000 smiley tipper. Problem is, to pass the DOE (MOT to you guys) i need to take the old rewar cross member (light panel) off and replace it with something cool (suggestions welcome). Only problem is the previous owner did a good few repairs on it, crappy ones at that. It is quite rusty and disintegrated and taking it off is proving confusing. Anyone any idea how it is held on? I suspect it is held on by pushing it into the chassis frame and held into place with the leaf spring bolts. Am i right. otherwise it will be the angle grinder and gas.
I sthere anywhere i can get diagrams?
cheers

rear x-members seem to be welded on,box sections first and then lightpanel spot welded to box, best cut off with grinder, extended frame chassis sections are sometimes bolted.
