Whilst driving the latest van about I have noticed a tapping noise coiming from the FIP/top of engine area, thought it was tappets needing some adjustment but on the way home tonight the noise happens on acceleration but goes when I release the throttle.
I know these pumps suffer broken springs and as the engine has only covered 77000 miles was wondering if there are any tell tale signs before failure.
If it is the springs whats the going rate for a fix???
IF its not, what else could be the cause.

Changed the fuel filter tonight, a bit of a sod to bleed and the noise is still the same.
No real change in power or general running and the old filter seemed newish???
Any other ideas.
