melted wires with nowhere to go???

I have just found two sep. lots of melted wires... the first ones are quite thick,
1 purple & yellow
2 purple & blue
3 white & green

they share the same small loom as the the drivers side headlight and were just sat tucked behind the grill going to nothing!!! melted and twisted together were No.s 2 & 3


the other lot comes out of the little loom hovering over the starter motor... 3 wires with a small plug jst about still attached, cant see where this is supposed to go either?

Could anyone shed any light on these please ?

sounds like the first one should have the heater resitor on the end, and the other the water in fuel sensor which goes on the bottom of the fuel filter (and is often removed)
